Awareness Allows You to Create a Life of Choice

What You Think Is Not Nearly as Important and Life Changing as How You Think

The one thing you have total control over is your own mind. As Buddha said, “Our life is the creation of our mind.”

I know that telling you to transform your thinking and master your mind to have the life you really want is like telling you to climb Mount Everest! I know it feels that way, but I’m going to show you how.

Have you ever reflected on how you perceive the world and how it totally determines the way you interact with it!

Your “internal map of reality” determines where you end up in life, because it’s your ultimate perspective and worldview. 

Michael Gerber, American business coach and bestselling author, said: “The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing.”

Choosing What You Think to Become Who You Want to Be

Master your map of reality so no matter what your circumstances, you remain the creator of your own life. To live the life you’d like to live, you can learn to deliberately choose happiness, inner peace, personal success, freedom, power, fulfillment, full self-expression and joy.

By consciously and purposely choosing your thoughts, you can reach your goals of extraordinary health, weight loss, financial freedom, deeper intimate relationships, a connection to your spiritual self, the ability to make the impact you’re interested in, and the extra time for yourself, your children and grandchildren.

The great news is you’re not stuck with your current view of reality. You don’t have to settle for dead-end thinking, disappointing relationships, frustrating jobs, and paycheck-to-paycheck existence. Eliminate the fear of failure, self-doubt, worry and anxiety from your life. 

Mastering Your Map of Reality

Here’s how we create our lives

We have a Thought that through a chemical process in the brain creates a Feeling. We then take Action and have an Experience. Through our own choosing, we assign Beliefs and Meanings to those experiences, and tell ourselves Stories about them over and over. 

As you do this repeatedly in the same way every day, you train your brain and body to keep replicating the same patterns automatically and unconsciously. But by becoming aware of your thinking, you can consciously choose empowering feelings, assign different meanings, and rescript the stories you tell yourself to ultimately  retrain your brain and establish new neural pathways allowing you to consciously create possibilities for living in alignment with the vision you have for your life. 

Simply understanding how you create your life is the starting point of a whole new life! 

An Exercise

Write down the limiting thoughts that you would like to stop thinking. Become so conscious of them that they don’t slip by you. By writing them down you’ll bring them from the unconscious to the conscious which minimizes their power and allows you to replace them with new thinking.

Write down the thoughts that you would like to replace your limiting beliefs. If you want to be happy, you need to consciously — on purpose — choose to be happy. It’s just as easy to choose to be happy as to choose to be unhappy. At the beginning of each day, consciously decide what kind of day (life) you’re going to have. 

Remember — You are not your thoughts. You are the Thinker of your thoughts and thus, 

can choose the thoughts you want to have, how you want to feel, and the meanings you choose to assign to things!

Watch where you’re putting your Attention throughout the day, because what we focus on expands. If you want to see where you’ve been putting your attention, just take a look at your life.

Awareness Enables Choice

As you expand your awareness and awaken your consciousness, you’ll start connecting to your life in a much different way and allow the “flow” to take you where you want to go. Suffering vanishes away and your life starts to feel effortless. “Ways of being” become accessible to you and allow the Universe to decide things in your favor. 

Deepak Chopra, world-famous author and prominent figure in the New Age movement, said: “Most people have no time to think or be themselves. They become bundles of conditioned reflexes and nerves that are constantly being triggered by people and circumstances into very predictable outcomes and patterns of behavior. There’s no conscious creation of their own lives!”

I want you to have your best life and live to your fullest, so at the end of all this life on earth, you feel that you’ve made the impact you wanted to make and have no regrets.

Changing Yourself to Change the World

I believe the way we change the world is by each of us working on ourselves… expanding our awareness and awakening our consciousness one person at a time. By expanding our awareness, choice becomes available to us. By becoming actively conscious, we have a way to get rid of the problems we create unconsciously. 

We no longer create our life from the knee-jerk automatic responses that were programmed into our unconscious mind by well-meaning parents, friends, family members, clergy and teachers as we were growing up.

Once you awaken that deeper awareness inside you, you’ll be able to consciously choose what empowers you and release what holds you back. When you become aware of your own mental framework, it’s easy to see the choices that you make and the resulting experiences you have come from inside you, not from your external circumstances. 

An Exercise

Below are two daily practices I use to expand my awareness, stay conscious and be in the present moment, so I can consciously choose the life I’m creating.

The Witness

Become what ancient scriptures call “the Witness” or “the Watcher” of your favorite ways of becoming unconscious, in order to uproot them from your life. Watch what you’re thinking, how you’re acting and what you’re saying.

It’s as simple as this: Pretend you’re an actor on a stage, playing your part in this production called Your Life. Watch yourself as you go through your day and actually recite what you’re thinking and doing. For example, “Here’s Robert doubting he will be successful.” “Here’s Robert rushing into the post office and forgetting to shut off his car.” “Here’s Robert becoming impatient and snapping at his wife’s question.”

This will feel odd at first, but it’s super effective to slow you down, and allow you to get conscious of your thinking, actions, meanings you assign to things, and choices you make. It gives you the leverage you need to both choose consciously and intentionally create the life you really want. It puts you in the peaceful present where your New Life gets created.

Creating a Pause to Choose

Pause to turn preprogrammed, autopilot, knee-jerk, unconscious “reactions” into “conscious responses.” When you’re triggered by anything or anyone, do not react immediately. Take the time to pause before doing or saying anything. It’s in this pause that change and conscious choice become available to you, and allow you to transform your standard reactions into conscious responses to create the life you really want.

What you create outside your consciousness runs on autopilot beyond your control. Awareness makes choice available to you. As you expand your awareness, you’ll start to see how you create outcomes you don’t want, and you’ll learn how to transform your way of operating to create outcomes you consciously choose.

Once you understand and embrace that, you can release those things holding you back. And now the fun begins! You can choose to drop what doesn’t work and replace it with what does.

Getting Unstuck to Enjoy Endless Possibilities

Taking your life from one in which you feel stuck and at the mercy of your circumstances to one in which Anything is Possible is totally up to you! 

What are you automatically and unconsciously thinking and doing to create the life you see?  

Your life is created in your mind. It’s not a consequence of your circumstances and the situations you find yourself in. Whatever’s happening in your life, inside and out, is your own creation. It isn’t just “happening.” You’re the source of it — you’re generating it inside and you can choose what you generate. Your real miracles and real magic are an inside job of conscious choice!

The ancient Kybalion text says, “As above so below.” Whatever you’re looking at on the outside is being generated inside you. It’s your choice.

The Splendour of Living Consciously Through Deliberate Choice

By bringing awareness to what you’re creating as you’re creating it, you now have the choice to create your life and view people and situations in a way that allows you to experience the life you really want and gives you the ability to create a life of your own choosing. 

How you think, how you feel, how you act and the meanings you assign to things are totally your choice. Your expanded awareness and mindful watching give you a new tool called Choice. And you’ll make wise choices based on living consciously.

I’m going to tell you a Secret I finally realized… The people you meet who seem to always be peaceful, happy, and full of joy are that way because they consciously choose the meanings they assign to things! But with that comes the responsibility of being the creator of your own reality. 

Are you up for being a Conscious Creator? Are you ready to stop living by the unconscious automatic responses given to you as a kid? Are you willing to give up the belief that life just happens to you and instead, assume one hundred percent responsibility for having created the life you see and accept the power to consciously create the life you really want? 

You create your world, so suffering is optional. Don’t take on the role of victim in your own play. 

When you “wake up” and connect to awareness, you’ll consciously create the life you really want that finally serves you and those around you!
