What do we really know?
When we’re willing to admit we don’t know anything, that’s when the truth is revealed to us!
We all assume that our “reality”, or better yet, what we perceive as reality, is the only reality that exists, for Us and many times for everyone else. However, our reality is created in our mind, from the experiences we have through our senses, and the stories we then tell ourselves about them. It is in no way a true representation of the actual outside world.
We have a great need to be right and to know everything. Whether it’s true or not, we all have a tendency to grasp at “knowing”.
We want things to be settled and determined, and we want to seem “smart”, so people will look up to us, like us, and approve of us.
Whereas, in fact, if you sincerely keep track of how many times you really don’t know something, you’d be amazed.
If every time you suggest a theory about something rather than really knowing the answer, you said, “I really don’t know”, you’d be shocked at how many times you’d be saying that. My wife and I kid around about that. We’re always saying…”We really don’t know!” It amazes us how often we say it! To the point that we finally realized, “we really don’t know”.
It’s not that anyone is stupid, but in reality, except for actual facts, most of our life is made up of our own interpretations, opinions, and meanings, especially our thoughts. We rush to conclusions based upon speculations, so we can feel we’re standing on solid ground!
However, “not knowing” leads you to something much greater, much deeper…Wisdom!
At the end of the day, if we’re willing to stand in that uncomfortable spot of not knowing, and don’t rush to fill that awkward silent void, we have an opportunity to gain Wisdom and Insight.
We have an opportunity to sense our Intuition and connect to a much deeper Knowing.
Wisdom is fluid.
It’s always open to revelation and discovery, and less interested in rigid conclusions. It’s alive and endless.
By knowing nothing, you stay open to everything.
Start your inquiry about your own life from the place of “I don’t really know”, and see what shows up. Stay open to it. Allow yourself the freedom to not know, and not need to know!
