Jim Rohn was a world famous motivational speaker and personal development coach. He died in 2009 at the age of 79. He was worth $500,000,000.Ā
When I met him, he told me you donāt have to worry about being great at a hundred things. He said itās only a few things that make a huge difference. Not a hundred thingsā¦just a few things!
Your health, your relationships, your prosperity, your connection to a higher powerā¦a few things.
Why Itās Important To Identify Your Most Important Thing
Hal Elrod is the author of the best-selling book, āThe Miracle Morningā.Ā
He says, āto decide on your mission, simply look over all your goals and then ask yourself: Which One of these goals would enable me to become the person I need to be to achieve everything else I want in my life. The answer to that question is your mission.ā
People excel at whatās Most Important to them. One goal creates focus. You donāt get lost in sea of conflicting decision-making, not knowing where to spend your time, effort, and money.Ā
What is the one Most Important Thing that would make the biggest impact on your life?Ā
Is it in line with your vision, purpose, and values?Ā
Until you identify it, youāre left without a compass upon which to make decisions and choose direction. As Alexander Hamilton said, āIf you donāt stand for something, youāll fall for anything.ā
Identifying it is only the first part of the processā¦
This Is The Second Most Important Thing
The second most important thing is to get into Action!Ā Ā
You canāt just sit around thinking about it and hoping for it. Now you have to take action, for it to have the biggest impact on your life!
Jim Rohn would always say, āYou have to make measurable progress in reasonable time.ā
Focusing on one most important thing allows you to choose one path, a clear process to get there, and the ability to measure whether or not youāre on the right track. If you find youāre not on the right track, you can adjust your actions quickly and early on in the process.
That which youāve chosen as your most important thing becomes your new identity. The narrative that goes on in your head, on a daily basis, is now driven by it. It now becomes very clear and therefore very easy to make decisions, because all you have to ask yourself is, āWill this get me closer to or take me further away from my goalā?
Your Secret Weapon To Get You There
Itās truly very simple, whatever you see in your life right now is what youāre committed to. Itās not having a mild interest in seeing it happen, but the, āyouāll either see me at the top of the mountain waving the flag, or dead on the side of the mountainā, kind of commitment!
Being committed is absolutely critical to sustain action, and just getting into action, even if everything isnāt perfect, will create the momentum you need to keep going!
